Empty Bones and a (Possible) Ticket Home: The Chemo Chronicles Continue

Hallelujah! We have good news to report from the chemo battlefront. Josh’s latest bone marrow biopsy results are in, and drumroll please… it’s EMPTY! That’s right, those pesky cancer cells have officially been evicted. No more squatters in Josh’s bones!

It seems that chemo, despite its many flaws (like, you know, making you feel like you’ve been hit by a truck), actually did its job. We’re officially giving it a reluctant thumbs up (but still side-eyeing it for all the trouble it caused).

And in even better news, Josh’s blood counts are starting to rebound on their own. His red blood cells and platelets are slowly but surely climbing back to normal levels, which means less reliance on transfusions and more energy for important tasks like, well, breathing and not looking like a vampire extra.

Now, here’s the best part: If all goes well, we might be getting sprung from this hospital prison by the weekend! Yes, you heard that right. Freedom! Fresh air! Home-cooked meals that don’t involve mystery meat and lukewarm jello! (Okay, maybe I’ll still make jello, but it will be gourmet jello with fancy toppings.)

Of course, we’re not out of the woods yet. There will be more tests, more checkups, and more waiting games in our future. But for now, we’re choosing to bask in the glow of this victory, however small it may seem. We’re celebrating the empty bone marrow, the rising blood counts, and the possibility of Josh sleeping in his new bed this weekend.

So, thank you for all the love, the prayers, the good vibes, and the endless supply of funny memes. You’ve helped us through some dark days, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Stay tuned for more updates, folks. The chemo chronicles are far from over, but for now, we’re taking a deep breath and savoring this moment of hope.

Excellent! I’m so glad to hear things are going in the right direction!!

I know we haven’t talked in a while Josh but I thought you should know when we were kids I absolutely lionized you! You were an absolute ace at Duck Hunt, could make that little water rocket thing we would play with in the back yard fly waaaay higher than I was ever able to, and you once almost got me believing in Santa again when you visited my folks and I for Christmas and told me you saw St. Nick on his way back up the chimney. I have a lot of fond memories of you and Dan, and I really hope you get to head home soon with the worst of this behind you.
